About Us

The Friends group was formed in 2003 as a loose association of people who regularly used Skipwith Common and wanted to help preserve its ecology and archaeology. The Friends, while an independent group, support Natural England and Escrick Park Estate by encouraging understanding of and respect for the landscape and its flora and fauna through a programme of guided walks through the year and in practical ways through a Task Group who help with task days such as mending fences, building walkways and rounding up sheep.
